SLiterary’s mission is to bring literary and artistic culture into SL, and to create it where it does not yet exist. Its current slogan is "sLiterary: What Second Life Can Be."

Since its launch in January of 2007, sLiterary has evolved from being a publication fostering the new literary genre of metaverse fiction to become an active creator of the world in which metaverse fiction is set. sLiterary defines and develops what Second Life can be.

Their in-world endeavors are focused on the avatar, as they believe that all creativity starts from the individual behind that representation. To this extent, sLiterary offers free and reduced-pricing housing to creators of literary and related content on SL in master-crafted environments that help facilitate an innovative atmosphere.

The longterm goal of sLiterary is to help create the literary Second Life. They started by promoting the creation and publication of metaverse fiction, and have expanded to building literary communities and holding or supporting literary and arts events.
