Biography

Madcow Cosmos was born in 1978 and currently resides in the Northwest of the United States where he makes his living as a part time chef and cat owner. He initially entered Second Life in November of 2006 with the goal of using SL's simple build tools as a creative outlet in the 3D media. His first contact with the art community was through Rezago Kokorin, who contacted him to display a piece at Blekinge Sculpture Park and introduced him to the Virtual Artist Alliance. Madcow was soon contacted by Nimrod Yaffle and offered a large chunk of land on a limited time basis on which to place sculpture and a store if desired. Located prominently next to a popular sandbox this venue in its over two month life span allowed madcow to meet a number of other artists and refine his style further. Next Morris Vig of Oyster Bay sculpture garden contacted him to take part in a series of talks/one day displays that he was having and introduced him to Cheen Pitney who madcow continues to site as his favorite sculptural artist to this day. Continuing his relationship with Oyster Bay Sculpture Garden and Aquarium madcow's next major event was the 14 days of sculpture featuring a new set of pieces every day at midnight for two consecutive weeks, with a total of 1400 prims for use every day. Following this well met event madcow took the summer off to pursue a summer with his wife on vacation and changing jobs. Madcow continues to pursue the goal of artistic experession and content creation by prolifically producing high prim sculptures and avatars in a variety of styles.

Urban Legends

Many legends suround Madcow's existence, and wild fables are constructed around the way he works and how he lives his virtual life. Notably no one has seen madcow in a human form, though late night rituals are said to be held by windlight glow in the secluded hills of a private and unnamed sim in which chilling tales of "his true face" and "writhing mass of non-euclidean pixels" have both been uttered. One time I saw this van pull up and these guys jump out and like totally beat up madcow and I was like whoa, but by the time I came back out from calling the police there was like no one there. Whoa. He loves clams and invented rock and roll, but died of moose bites later that same summer. These myths are heavily disputed and are largely disproven by modern aether sciences and entomology.

Works

Two styles define the main body of works by Madcow Cosmos: skeletal and steampunk. His skeletal works focus mainly on mythical and literary creatures, notably dragons among them. Classical mythology often mixes with fantasy leaving the works more imaginative than imitative. Similar themes appear in Madcow's steampunk creations, with works including Baba Yaga's hut and Atlas, but more contemporary devices may appear also. Madcow's steampunk works rarely focus on the Victorian aspect of the style but instead favor the industrial turns of the style. Beyond these two styles he has created a large number of works in other styles or themes including but not limited to crustaceans, insects, robots, surrealism, and contemporary fantasy.
