Dale Innis

Dale Innis (html profile) is a scripting artist (and creation artist and lefthanded artist) whose work deals primarily with time, color and movement. Innis emself is a shape-changer (appearing most often as an adult human male or female, but sometimes as a child, a pandaren, or a sphere), so we will use random pronouns in this article.

Dale Innis
One of my great delights is to produce art, or artifacts, that can surprise me. Before Second Life, I wrote programs that composed music, that drew abstract figures, and that created random (but playable) levels for a popular 2.5D computer game. I was happiest with these programs when they made things that were recognizably music / abstract statements / DOOM levels, but were also beyond what I would have immediately expected from the algorithms that I coded into them.
Now in SL, I can write programs that dynamically create and modify actual (virtual) objects, and I hope again to be able to do it in ways that allow the result to surprise me (and, ideally, to surprise and delight you). I've just begun walking along this path, but I'm pleased with my early progress, and I hope that they are at least diverting. I dreamed once that I wrote a program that produced scenes (a bridge over a road, and beyond it a river with bright red and white pilings, accompanied by sorrowful music); SL lets me come closer to that dream than anything has before.

Second Life activities
Innis is a long-time member of the Virtual Artist Alliance, and an active member of Scripters of Second Life. As well as relatively standalone art pieces, e has also made a few larger builds (also incorporating scripts in various ways), and is also exploring using Second Life to support new modes of collaboration.
Real Life
Innis is known to be a male living in the United States, with some connection to the Information Technology industry. Apart from that, he has requested that no "blatant" links be made in this wiki between his RL and SL identities. (As he puts it, "Anyone who wants to can find the link in a few minutes with Google, but why spoil their fun?")
